About me: Work

I am currently working as an HCA in the University of Utah Hospital operating room. It is a great job while I am in school (a post about that will come later). My duties include setting up operating rooms for specific surgeries, picking up the patient from their rooms, verifying paperwork, assisting with equipment during the surgery, and turning over the room after the operation is completed. My favorite part about the job has been watching the different operations. I have already learned many things while working there. The hospital really takes care of their employees. I volunteered at the hospital for 6 months in the anesthesia workroom before I was hired.

My previous job was at OPSGEAR in North Salt Lake, Utah. I worked there for 2 years. We sold tactical equipment, clothing, and paintball modifications. OPSGEAR also trains military and law enforcement units in close quarter combat. My last position there was overseeing our international dealer program and helping with the daily activities of our local showroom. I enjoyed that job very much - but wanted to pursue my career in the medical field.

I have also worked for UCS as a contractor at the Kennecott Copper Mine for 3.5 years. We took care of all the 2-way radios, security cameras, cardreaders, satellite phones, and any other electronic equipment. I really enjoyed my time there, but was laid off when they decided that it was a conflict of interest for any contractors to attend college while working. The history and operations of a mine that size was fascinating.

The first job that I had after returning home from my mission was as the Assistant Store Manager for True Value Hardware (I worked there before my mission also). I really loved that job! Unfortunately I had to leave so that my schedule would be more conducive to attending school. I made alot of friends while working there that I still have today.
